Rats 1.jpg

The problem

Around 10,000 years ago, human civilization learned to cultivate food crops to sustain tribes, villages and towns. Without the benefit of agriculture, humans would need to hunt and gather their food like every other animal on the earth, eating enough to sustain but not enough to thrive. However, we have not been the only species on the planet to have benefited from this bounty.

With well over one rat for every human on the planet, rats are a global pest and have major economic and public health impacts due to their capacity to:

  • compete with man for food

  • spread life-threatening diseases

  • cause structural damage

Competition for food

  • Globally over USD 72 billion value of food destroyed annually

  • Damage to 3-5% of the world’s cereal crops – 78-130 million tonnes based on FAO’s  2018/19 global production estimates

health

  • Rats are carriers of a great many significant human diseases with huge human health implications

  • Major economic losses through adverse effects on growth and reproductive performance in domestic livestock

infrastructure

  • Annually many billions of dollars damage to infrastructure, over USD 1.9 billion in the US alone

Cost of control

An annual global spend on rodent control of over USD 45 billion with over USD 1.4 billion spent on rat poison in the US alone

The issue is that:

Current methods of control are environmentally damaging and economically unsustainable, merely delaying the impacts and actually making the matter worse

Ratblok Benefits

Only a technology preventing the rats from coming into contact with the feed stuffs or infrastructure will prevent this damage ever occurring.

With the protection of food stuffs saving more than USD 100 billion annually and greatly increased health benefits for humans and their food producing animals, along with a significant reduction in associated treatment costs, the potential benefits are massive.

RATBLOK is a revolutionary rat repellent platform technology proven effective through millions of years of evolution and both environmentally and economically sustainable.

An extremely valuable commodity with world-wide application, and huge economic, social and environmental benefits.
